Hey GKT! 18th November – 18th December marks Disability History Month so we wanted to dedicate our first MSA Spotlight Series event of the year to discussing disability awareness within the medical profession as we have the privilege of speaking to disability activist Vix Jensen on Tuesday 23rd November. Vix Jensen is an activist, public speaker, and writer with a Master’s degree in education and psychology. She was born with cerebral palsy. Her work focuses on promoting the inclusion of disabled voices in intersectional conversations and spaces. With over six years of experience, she has facilitated workshops, delivered keynote addresses and led panels in schools in both the US and the UK, at colleges including Columbia University, and for organizations such as Human Rights Watch. She also provides disability-aware diversity and inclusion consulting for corporations. Her written work has been featured in print by Scope, Diversability and in national newspapers including the Sun. Our Welfare VP, Nikki Kerdegari, will be in conversation with Vix as we hear from her on her experience as a patient, why it is important to be a disability-aware medic and this will be followed by a Q&A with the chance for you to ask Vix questions too! We hope you find it an insightful and informative evening that will help you gain better insight for your future practice.
