Core Committee 2022/23

President
Nikki Kerdegari
It may be her third year on committee, but if there’s anyone with the ultimate GKT spirit, it’s your friendly neighbourhood President Nikki Kerdegari! When she’s not ruining her sleep hygiene with 4am study sessions in NHH, Nikki can be found working as President of Paediatric Society and Mentorship Lead of Surgical Society – she really is Little Miss On Every Committee! Don’t let her pursuit for portfolio points fool you, Nikki is a wholesome gal who just loves her friends. She’ll do anything to help others - make sure you get your five-a-day, schedule your life for you and everything in between. Some say she does it out of selflessness, others say it’s because she’ll take every possible opportunity to remind you her name means kindness.

Vice President Communications & Technology
Aribah Naveed
Sudoku aficionado and froyo enthusiast, Aribah is an aesthetic wannabe, lover of tiramisu and a single parent to a 5-year-old Chinese Evergreen plant named after Harvey Specter from Suits. It’s a mystery how she's organised enough to manage the MSA socials and the shiny new MSA website amidst attending placement, all whilst she’s got 10 different TV shows on rotation and is constantly looking for a brunch motive. When she's not taking photos of the sky every time the sun rises and sets, you can catch Aribah running (away from her responsibilities) or trying to convince herself that embroidery is going to improve her suturing skills (she doesn’t even know how to suture).

Vice President Community
Ciana Dsouza
From the far far North (west of London), there is only one thing this committee member loves more than being a medical student and that’s food. If she’s not devouring her 2nd burrito of the day she’s definitely dreaming about it or making lists about all the food places she NEEDS to go to. She may look all quiet at first but don’t be fooled, she is always running around, full of energy and can’t wait to be your Vice President of communities this year.

Vice President Education
Leah Asante
It's Leah's second year on the MSA committee and she's ready for another exciting year ahead of MSA Education! You can find her obsessing over pictures of domes, arches and pretty doors she's captured on her travels. When she's not daydreaming about her next adventure, Leah enjoys hearing about patients' own journeys and stories during clinical placement. She's very excited to be your Vice President of Education and looks forward to meeting you this academic year!

Vice President Events
Onaiho Ojo
Hopeless workaholic and endless shopaholic, VP Events Ona establishes her third year on committee! When she is not deep in her pre-exam study-hole or up at 2 am making event posters, Ona is best found orchestrating schemes to worm her way through the Guy's Bar queue or regaling anyone who will listen with stories ranging from rescuing her roommate from being bitten by a rugby player to falling into a sewer in Malaysia. With her seemingly never-ending supply of GKT swag, Ona loves GKT and the MSA and represents GKT Pride wherever she goes!

Vice President Welfare
Anusha Talukder
Hey everyone! It's Anusha in her second year on the MSA committee and she's so excited to share with you all what our Welfare Team has in store this year. When she's not being a true representation of the coffee loving medics with her iced caramel latte, she can be found being a tourist in her own city (and a lover for new food spots). A definition of workaholic, she is going into her second year of being president of KCL Bangladesh Society. Some of her hobbies include tennis and playing her orchestra of instruments, most notably the piano. Please do say hi if you bump into her, she'll be happy to answer any questions or have a quick chat :)

Secretary
Aidan Beaumont
After a year of writing newsletters, reading emails, and making a fresher's guide, there surely must be a motivation to want to do it again. When he's not entering multi-sport competitions with no training, or spending every penny he makes on coffee gear, he'll be asking his friends in the year above 'do I really need to know this?'. Always up for a laugh, and rating your 'it's the best coffee shop in the world', Aidan will always be there to answer your queries in the MSA inbox.

Treasurer
Sahed Ahmed
Since his triumphant run as Events Officer, Sahed has returned to serve as Treasurer in his second year on committee. He is one of the biggest coffee enthusiast we know! Always down to grab coffee for leisure or as fuel to study and we've heard he is good at latte art. Always a friendly face, ready to lend a hand and good with money, Sahed will ensure financial prosperity for the future of MSA!

Creative Director
Pranavan Venkatasubramaniam
Since coming to uni I've pushed the boundaries of procrastination by completing everything apart from a lecture. If im not playing sports you’ll most likely find me in DC or in NHH with a very questionable quesmed score. It's my first year on the committee and I'm looking forward to being able to design some of the best uni merch available so check the socials for updates and releases.

Charity Director
Jade Bruce
It's Jade's first year on the MSA and she can't wait to get involved! In her free time, you'll find Jade making screeching noises on her piano accordion and repeatedly failing to learn to play the mandolin. On the rare occasion that she makes it to library, you'll see her gazing mindlessly out of the window thinking about all the studying she probably should be doing. Alongside medicine, Jade loves getting involved with societies, and this year is treasurer of Street Doctors and also a St John Ambulance volunteer. Don't be afraid to say hello if you see her around, she's friendly and chatty!

Rep Director
Tatiana Hamakarim
Tatiana is back after a year of social media for you, but this time as your rep director. Known for loving her friends, her work, but most importantly, her MBBS presence, you know Tatiana will always be able to help. Whether it is something pastoral or academic, she will drop whatever she is doing to help you out. Ashford has become that little bit better since she was shipped off there, but her heart remains in SE1. When she's not studying, vaccinating or watching Formula 1, you can find her in the Shed on her 12th coffee of the day, or on the wards, where she really belongs. Please say hi if you see her around! She doesn't bite (promise).

Social Media Officer
Hayah Taimuri
It’s Hayah’s first year in the MSA and she’s super excited for the year ahead (much more excited for this than for getting her MSA fleece obviously!!). Going into her 6th year of uni, but only her third at Kings, Hayah simply can’t get enough of her university life. So you best believe you’ll find her *somewhere* around on campus, a lot more than necessary. Prior to this year you probably wouldn’t have seen her doing passmed, sitting in the library for more than an hour straight, or eating something other than KFC. But Hayah’s ‘nEw yEaR nEw mE’ starts this September - so you’ll hopefully see her in Wills, with more green than red on passmed and eating more M&S salads. Other than this, Hayah loves getting involved with initiatives such as ISoc’s ARK or Charity Week to help out people within and outside our KCL community - so be sure to check them out too!! Tip for the freshers - remember it’s just first year, relax, you don’t need to work THAT hard. Enjoy it! :)

Social Media Officer
Sadia Joulhash
Musical lover and Crosswords hater, Sadia is super excited for her first year as part of the MSA family and she’s determined to be remembered as the Grandma of the group! When she’s not procrastinating, you’ll find her in the NHH library trying to study and figure out how to make the electrical outlets work. Outside of Uni, Sadia loves all forms of art, whether that’s drawing, painting, dancing, or acting. She’s also been trying to learn how to play the ukulele for almost 2 years, but every two months she forgets the basis and has to start all over again :( She might appear shy and quiet at first, but once you get to know her better, she’ll turn into an explosive girl who will try her best to beat you at card games. Overall, Sadia has a keen interest in teaching, both younger students and even animals - she's trying to train her 20 (literally, 20) budgies to speak and obey commands. However, her love for social media supersedes anything else, as she’s also producing content for Brainbook, a charity organisation for all the brain lovers out there (she knows there are many of us) :)

Sports-Societies Liason Officer
Ali Gibson
Ali's nervously too close to becoming part of the furniture at King's and GKT... incoming into third-but-really-fifth year here (one of those gaps was intentional), they've explored many different corners of the university and Students' Union. As well as their first year on the MSA committee, you may see Ali working in the KCLSU Hubs or Shed cafe, as the co-President of KCL Psych Soc or generally waxing lyrical about Psych, broadcasting from the Bush House Radio Studio, meandering the open space at Denmark Hill campus, or furiously trying to remember the six other things on their roster including learning to play the drums! The best thing Ali enjoyed about their first year was exploring London, meeting new folks and discovering a love of comedy clubs - so make sure to take the time to follow your passions and find your crew whether you're new to London or not!

Alumni Officer
Derrick Fernando
MSA 4 LYF, ex-MSA President and BNOC of MBBS across his many years, Derrick Fernando is a name to remember. Despite not being on a sports team, you'll catch his joyful face living it up in Guy's Bar every Wed night, yet professionally manage his
extracurricular roles including Vice-President of EMDP, Vice-President of Anaesthetics and Intensive Care, Vice-President of that’s enough societies.
Having left the hallowed roads of SE1 for SW3 (his iBSc at Imperial, traitor) he made his triumphant return back to GKT as MSA President. He has since been exiled to Eastbourne Hospital to fulfil his role as Alumni officer. He is the walking definition of the quintessential phrase everyone knows as medic; work hard, play hard. Say hello to him if you see him on campus (although he will probably still be on peripherals), but please don’t get him started on Imperial or Eastbourne!

Education Officer
Ebrahim Nasser
It's Ebrahim's first year on the MSA. Known for having the strongest moustache and the worst sleep schedule in the GKT. He enjoys conversations about his extremely photogenic cat, motorcycles, as well as his plants. You can find him among the ten other cursed people who stay in the NHH Library past 2 in the morning. He is intercalating in autoimmunity and infectious diseases (what a good year for this) and is looking forwards to the new academic year. Feel free to talk to him anytime you spot him around campus and especially if it's late night in the NHH library (but be patient as your brain will take some time to rewire to his voice).
.jpg)
Education Officer
Ayida Khan
It's Ayida's first time on the MSA committee, and she is SO excited to get started! If she's not practicing henna designs on her friends, you'll find her taking pictures of the shard from Guys campus! She's a reliable and hard-working gal who gets the job done- so rest assured, you're in safe hands with Ayida as your education officer! She's always willing to help out wherever she can and loves meeting new people, so be sure to say hi to her if you see her on campus!
.jpg)
Events Officer
Shahnaz Hussain
First year in the MSA committee let’s goooo! You’ll usually find Shahnaz doing one of three things: studying in various cafe’s, dancing in Guy’s Bar, or baking in the comfort of her flat. Shahnaz is one of the events officers for this year so you’ll be sure to see her EVERYWHERE during freshers fortnight. If you’re ever stuck on where to eat, she’ll definitely have good suggestions. Co-parent to Benji the money plant, (named after Benjamin Franklin of course), Shahnaz is still navigating her way through the plant world as well as medical school. She’s always looking for new things to bake so feel free to share any ideas and recipes!! She wishes everyone good luck for the year :)
.jpg)
Events Officer
Ankita Redla
It’s Ankita’s first year on the committee, and she’s ready to give you an unforgettable freshers. But it doesn’t just stop at freshers, keep an eye out for all the exciting events planned throughout the year. If she’s not sleeping, you’ll usually find her exploring new places to study, trying to play netball without getting injured continuously or in GB at 2am. Ankita is very approachable so don’t be shy to come up and say hi if you see her on campus. If you can’t find her on campus feel free to drop her a message and she’ll be sure to reply. She cannot wait to meet all of you and bring you fun events :))

Welfare Officer
Sasha Nayar
It’s Sasha’s first year on committee and she’s super excited to be one of MSA’s welfare officers!!!! If she’s not busy travelling, dancing or trying out new sushi places in london you’ll probably find her in NHH at 3am or at GB on a sports night. Going into her second year of med (after doing biomed at kcl) Sasha knows GKT and guys campus extremely well. She has a busy year ahead being the events officer for both neurosurgery and women in surgery soc and beside fun officer for paediatrics society (make sure you check them out!) however she can’t wait to plan fun welfare events for everyone to get involved with. Feel free to approach her at anytime and her advice for incoming freshers would be to say yes to as many things as possible and enjoy your first year as much as you can (it only goes downhill from here)!!
_edited.jpg)
Welfare Officer
Karlo Jagic
It's Karlo's first year working on the MSA committee, and he is excited to start working with the team to make sure everyone has the best time possible at GKT. Besides his work within the MSA, he is going into his fifth and final year of medicine, with a hope to go on and specialise cardiology soon after finishing King's. Don't hold back in contacting him regarding any queries or doubts you may have, about anything from how you're feeling to how to best navigate your first year, he will be there to help you out.

Peer Assisted Learning Officer
Tanzim Shahid
So it's my first time in the MSA committee? (wish me luck!) Tanzim is the most high-functioning lazy gal you could ever meet and I ALWAYS get the job done somehow. Power-napping in Hodgkins to dosing herself with a nice mocha in NHH is the secret - oh, and extra napping anywhere else on top of that. You will see Tanzim on a lot of online video sessions with the rest of the MSA education team but also a lot on campus whilst she is intercalating in Pharmacology (maybe instead crocheting in the library in a hidden corner too...). Also, shoutouts to KCL Breast Project (she may pop up once in a while over there too). Overall, she loves shopping, plant sitting and just chilling with friends in any random park at any point in the day. Tanzim will love to see each and every one of you, at the least, surviving GKT in all its glory!

Diversity & Inclusion Officer
Manisha Teji
It’s my first year on the MSA Committee! I am super excited to be a part of the committee and can’t wait for everyone to see the events that we will bring for this year. If I’m not at NHH library trying to catch up on Anki reviews, I’ll be hanging out with friends finding recommendations for places to go on TikTok or binging Netflix shows. Feel free to approach me anytime and make sure to say hi if you do see me around campus.

Sponsorship Officer
Natasha Oh
It’s your girls first year on committee and I’m so excited to be part of the MSA family! If I’m not spending my time emailing sponsors to get that cash, you’ll find me banging out some passmed or stuck in the labs on campus for my ibsc! Tash will also be a busy gal working as Vice president for Women in Surgery, Events officer for plastics, reconstructive and aesthetics society and finally charity officer for psychodermatology society so make sure to check out those societies (lil plug). Feel free to approach Tash in the library if you see her as she’ll probably be already distracted scrolling through tiktok, clothes shopping or googling places to eat or go in London. Tash is a happy lil gal who never fails to laugh at anything no matter what it is. Tash looks forward to meeting some of you on campus! She wishes good luck to all freshers and to have a blast (while you still have the free time) ;)

Sponsorship Officer
Anussan Nadarasa
It's Anussan's first year on committee and he's ready to get fully involved with everything GKT. With his experience and assistance from Tasha, he'll make sure the MSA has all the funding to let you guys have as much fun as possible throughout the year! As a second year medic, freshers can feel more than free to contact him for help with the course or for the best places to have a great time! He'll most likely be around somewhere, so feel more than free to talk to him if you need!

Halfway Ball Committee Chair
Sanaa Sarfaz
It's Sanaa's second year on committee and she can't wait to organise the upcoming Halfway Ball. Having put on an incredibly successful and sell-out winter ball with raving reviews she can't wait to put her experience in event planning into action for her year. She's also social secretary for GKTWRFC this year so expect to see her at GB without fail every wednewday. It's a busy year for Sanaa but she's more than ready to accept the challenge!

Final Year Committee Chair
Millie Metz
Our ever passionate ex-ex-MSA President! She loves the MSA so much that even after FOUR years on committee, including her latest stint as Alumni Officer, she's taken on the role of Final Year Committee Chair - will this girl ever leave GKT? Most likely not! She's a very friendly presence around campus, though has recently been shipped off to somewhere in Kent! But if you do manage to catch her, definitely ask her to share some of her GKT wisdom (she's been here long enough!!)
