Core Committee 2023/24

President
Ciana Dsouza
She’s back for the third year in a row and this time as president…...good luck GKT. Ciana is From the far far North (west of London), and there is only one thing she loves more than being a medical student and that's food. You can find her in the science gallery devouring her 2nd burrito of the day or at least dreaming about it or making lists about all the food places she NEEDS to go to. When she actually tries to study she magically ends up on SkyScaner trying to find her next holiday destination so she can fly away from all her responsibilities (happened 6 times already - and it's only September!) She may look all quiet at first but don't be fooled, she is full of energy and can't wait to be your President this year

Vice President Communications & Technology
Reem El-Hayani
Despite being locked away in the depths of the abyss (Medway Hospital in KENT), Reem has found her way onto the MSA Committee as VP Comms and Tech, ready to bring her Canva skills to the table! When she is not hiding at home or at the gym, you can find her hunting for the best pistachio latte in london or sat in a random park with friends just straight up vibing. If you see Reem around campus, make sure to come say hello! She will always welcome a distraction to studying (she does not ever want to see an anki flashcard again).

Vice President Community
Ifrah Hasan
Hailing from Birmingham (without the accent, thankfully), Ifrah has been part of Cardio Soc, Onc Soc, and MERJ over her (many) years and is now buzzing to be your Vice President of Communities this year! Although she’s been exiled to Kent for peripheral placements, you may catch the odd sighting of her on the quad when she’s Guys-sick, or perhaps gallivanting around Portobello Road or Brick Lane for her treasured thrift hauls. If you still can’t get ahold of her, send Ifrah a tiktok of a new burger place and you’ll summon her immediately for her never-ending Quest to try every halal food spot in London. You WILL be roped into it, and you WILL be in her film photos which you WILL NOT ever see developed.

Vice President Education
Tanzim Shahid
Levelled up for the second year on committee as VP for Education? (I am nothing without the blessed and amazing MSA Education team). An iced brown sugar oat shaken espresso is the sole thing to fuel Tanzim's day whether it is to help out as VP for Breast Project KCL or to continue her addiction to mobile games. Let's just say last year's iBSc was rough... You will catch Tanzim excited and anxious to be back and better in clinical medicine and hopefully smash it through her first block in EMCC. If you see her around, do not be afraid to approach her. Chances are she needs a conversation to procrastinate.

Vice President Events
Shahnaz Hussain
Hey hey, it’s Shahnaz’s second time round on committee and she’s excited to bring you an amazing freshers fortnight, as well as a fun packed year ahead. You’ll usually find Shahnaz doing one of three things: studying in various cafe’s, dancing in Guy’s Bar, or baking her cravings. If you see her around campus be sure to come say hi! But be warned, she won’t let you go without showing you pictures of her adorable new kitten :))

Vice President Welfare
Aathi James Thiru-Lewis
Meet the MSA's freshest superstar – Aathi, the Vice President of Welfare! A true guardian of both stethoscopes and smiles! Hailing from the heart of Croydon, he's gracefully woven his local charm and global insights into this pivotal role. When he's not busy ensuring everyone's well-being, you might catch him cheering for Crystal Palace (because let's face it, even medical superheroes need a good match). And speaking of rhythm, he's got a knack for tuning into global beats that could make even a heartbeat groove. But that's not all – his love for exploration isn't limited to just the music. Armed with a stethoscope and a sense of adventure, he's a travel enthusiast who's practically on a first-name basis with airports.

Secretary
Morgan Bailey
When he is not sending people to sleep reminding everyone (and anyone who will listen) about the history of GKT, Morgan can be found avoiding his degree as much as possible by sitting on 4 committees (and counting!). When he is reminded that he should be studying, he can be found in the Gordon Museum or the GKT Gazette office in Henriette Raphael. Morgan cannot wait to flood your inboxes with MSA newsletters as your secretary for this year!

Treasurer
Sami Lewis
Third time lucky? I think it's pretty accurate when describing Mr Sami Lewis' MSA election history. If you're on the lookout for our money man (not that he's difficult to spot) you'll either find him cutting up bodies or in the morgue (Guy's Bar). Although it's best if you refrain from asking if he remembers you from last Wednesday. Just like Jeremy Hunt of Guy's Campus, he will be the boss of your money (except Sami won't dock your pay when you graduate). A friendly character despite the exterior, do not hesitate to approach him about any general concerns, or if you want to see if he can really fit a £1 coin through his two front teeth.

Creative Director
Shaan Khan
Between leaving placement early to balance a long shift of binge watching a new show, and procrastinating life admin for a well deserved three hundred and sixty five day break, Shaan will be handling all things creative for the MSA this year. If he’s not taking landscape photos in a new country, regrettably watching football, nor looking through a telescope, you might find him designing your next quarter zip!

Charity Director
Rabia Rehman
When she is not busy studying and exploring what London has to offer, Rabia is trying to make her way through her long list of places for brunch! Rabia looks forward to being charities director for this year, so keep an eye out for all the fun and exciting events!

Rep Director
Ali Gibson
Your anarchic medical student dialling in from intercalation at UAL, Ali has been around the block quite a bit. Their sixth year connected to GKT and second on the MSA Committee, Ali just doesn't want to leave... Whilst that student loan climbs and climbs! Apart from exploring medical humanities in their Masters, Ali will spend most of their time zooming across London and the UK seeing comedy shows and music gigs, and has so many roles in societies they're basically a hub of the Students' Union. They were also the VP Education (Health) for KCLSU during COVID, which was as everyone says of that time, interesting... during that time they fought for meaningful representation and that's exactly what they'll do as Rep Director!

Social Media Officer
Manisha Teji
Meet Manisha - it's her second year on committee for the MSA and this year she will be trying out a completely different role as social media officer. This year she will be taking a break from medicine by intercalating in Anatomy, but she loves King's far too much to leave! Apart from the MSA, she will taking on the roles of Vice President for KCL PRASS and Outreach Lead for KCL Surgical Society. If you see her around do not hesitate to say hi and introduce yourself as she loves meeting new people.

Social Media Officer
Jack Eaves
It may be his first year on the committee, but Jack is absolutely going to let everyone know that he's taking (joint) control of all the MSA's social media pages. Some of his favourite activities include telling people that he works as a phlebotomist, that he speaks chinese, and... well that's it. His mission this year is to interview as many unsuspecting medics as possible that he can post on the MSA socials to finally become GKT's first MedTok sensation. When you find him in New Hunt's House either scrolling through twitter or getting shushed for talking, make sure to say hello and be a welcome distraction - there's nothing that he loves more than procrastinating (other than stressing about procrastinating).

Sports-Societies Liason Officer
Maheen Siddiqui
This committee member loves enjoying the little moments in life, is always excited over the tiniest things and loves being wholesome (or as some may call it, “cringey”; it’s the same thing, you get to decide which one resonates with you)! She’s always full of energy and loves to enjoy every moment, whether that means going to fun places, talking on a random bench or even attending lectures and workshops! Alongside contributing within the MSA, she is serving as President of Make A Smile London, Academic Officer of Anatomy Society and sNSL of the Columbia ICE Program, among other things she is currently enjoying! A fun (or not so fun) fact about her is that she survives and thrives solely on water as her drink of choice – yes, she doesn’t drink coffee, tea or bubble tea! There is nothing that she loves more than her family, so you are sure to find her on a call with them every single day! She loves her friends and everyone around her just as much, cherishing every interaction she has and making memories!

Alumni Officer
Nikki Kerdegari
It may be her fourth year on committee, but if there’s anyone with the with the ultimate GKT spirit, it’s your friendly neighbourhood Past President and BNOC Nikki Kerdegari! When she’s not ruining her sleep hygiene with 4am study sessions in NHH, Nikki can be found working as, President of the RSM Students Section, President of Surgical Society, Secretary of Paediatric Society and Vice President of Paediatric Surgery Society, she really is Little Miss On Every Committee! A true MSA veteran, Nikki is back to fulfil her role as Alumni Officer but don’t let her pursuit for portfolio points fool you, Nikki is a wholesome gal who just loves her friends. She’ll do anything to help others - make sure you get your five-a-day, schedule your life for you and everything in between. Some say she does it out of selflessness, others say it’s because she’ll take every possible opportunity to remind you her name means kindness.

Education Officer
Madihah Ali
It may be this committee member's first time being part of the MSA but this doesn’t make her GKT spirit any less. When she’s not drowning in lecture notes, she can be found with her nose in a good book, catching up with friends and watching a good movie. She has never managed to finish a tv series but maybe this will be the year!! She will be taking a year out of medicine -intercalating in cardiovascular medicine- but won’t let that stop her being part of GKT and is ready to get stuck in with all things MSA and education as the education officer this year!! She can also be found working as cardiothoracic society events officer (defo has a love for cardio if you couldn’t tell already :) ) and GP society stage 2 rep! How will she manage you may ask? It’s all a work in progress but hopefully she hasn’t left all that medicine knowledge too far behind!

Education Officer
Yathavi Charavanamuttu
Yathavi (second year medic) is a music enthusiast and, when not trapped in NHH Library, can be found either with GKT Orchestra or exploring London. If you need any help or have any questions, feel free to ask her – she may not be the most knowledgeable but she is always eager to help!

Events Officer
Anussan Nadarasa
His second year on committee, Anussan is more than ready to help the MSA have the best events this year! With his extensive experience scrolling on Fatsoma, he’s more than fit to organise GKT’s most infamous events, from Scrubs to the Floating Ball to GKTake Me Out. You might see him at the most random locations, but don’t hesitate to approach him if you see him! As a third year medic, feel more than free to contact him for help with the course or the best places to have a great time!

Events Officer
Owen McFadden
t’s Owen’s first year on the MSA and he’s super excited to give you a once-in-a-lifetime freshers experience and an unforgettable year of events! If he’s not busy organising fun events, you’ll find him scream-singing Taylor Swift with his flatmates at 1am (sorry neighbours xx), mindlessly staring at Anki cards in NHH, or on a quest to find the best iced vanilla late in London. But one place you’ll never, EVER find him is in a lecture – they’re all recorded... right? Owen is also the grieving parent to Jacintha, the late Aloe Vera houseplant. Fortunately, he’s much better at organising events than he is at keeping succulents alive. He can’t wait to meet all of you and wishes you all the best of luck for the year ahead. Oh, and if you see him stumbling out of GB at 2am at any point this year – no you didn't.

Welfare Officer
Brana Ahilan
It's her first year on the MSA committee, as welfare officer. Ironic, since she's a veteran night owl who lives on coffee and no sleep most of the year. If she's not trying something new at Borough Market instead of being at NHH, she aims to always be a lending ear, ready to answer your questions as she takes on 4th year - hopefully fixing her sleep schedule while she's at it.

Welfare Officer
Maeve Sherry
It’s Maeve’s first year on the MSA and she’s so excited to take on her new role as welfare officer! Looking out for you guys is her top priority and she wants to make sure everyone has an enjoyable year and settles nicely into GKT community. When she’s not juggling the responsibilities of being on 5 (!!) committees, you’ll find this fitness fanatic swimming laps of theOrchard Lisle pool, tapping it back in SoulCycle, or sparring in the ring with KCL Boxing Society. Maeve also loves good food and will seize any opportunity to try new restaurants in the city. A true social butterfly, Maeve is always up for spending time with friends – from hectic nights out in GB, to slightly more reserved coffee dates & park motives. She can’t wait to get to know you all next year and hopes you all settle in well! P.S. she’s still on a mission to find her favourite restaurant in London, so feel free to message her with any recs :)

Peer Assisted Learning Officer
Kinza Khan
Meet Kinza, you’ll spot her on campus, squinting at life’s challenges because glasses are just not her vibe (she is yet to discover the magic of clear vision). With the musical taste of a middle-aged man stuck in the ‘80s you can find her most days moonwalking through NHH. She’s the girl with the longest hair and least athletic ability. Kinza’s secret weapon? Memes. She communicates through them. When she’s not curating meme magic, you’ll find her Pinterest-scrolling, turning aesthetic dreams into reality. And whilst sleep might be a distant memory for this highly caffeinated med student- she organises the MSA PAL scheme and sprinkles friendliness across the MSA committee :)

Diversity & Inclusion Officer
Natasha Lisa Ssozi
As a fulltime restauranteur and part time medical student, you’re more likely to find Natasha trying out different cuisines than in NHH. When you can find her on campus, she’s usually utilising her minimal acting skills to demonstrate patient scenarios, watching OSCE videos at x2 speed or squinting at her friends from a far (as her glasses are at the bottom of her bag). As D&I Officer Natasha looks forward to celebrating the diversity of our student and faculty.

Sponsorship Officer
Camilla Shidrawi
One of the MSA sponsorship officers this year is Camilla Shidrawi. She is often found ordering a takeaway or grabbing sushi for lunch to break up a day in NHH library. She’s probably disturbing and chatting (whispering of course) to other library goers to convince them to get a coffee with her! Juggling her academics and GKT netball, Camilla is diligent and organised so will put her all into her MSA role this year. She can’t wait to meet the new freshers and let them know all her top tips for medicine!

Sponsorship Officer
Vijithan Sivaranjan
Embracing his new role as a Sponsorship Officer with the MSA, Vijithan is at the crossroads of an exciting journey. Marking his fourth year at Kings, he's poised to venture to Swindon for an entire year, a substantial departure from the London he's always known. Amidst change, Vijithan remains a devoted medical student, his passion for the field driving him consistently. His commitment extends to the captivating teachings organized by various medical societies, a testament to his thirst for knowledge. Vijithan finds solace in crafting a website alongside his developer peers, for a brand called Elite Moving, driven by his aspiration to fashion self-sustaining solution.

Halfway Ball Committee Chair
Imogen Gush
Meet Imogen, this year’s Halfway Ball Chair. It may be her first year on the MSA but this girl lives and breathes GKT… you know something’s up if she hasn’t worn her GKT Netball committee stash for a while! If she’s not cramming in NHH library or hopping on the train to her next netball match, you’ll probably find her baking banana bread, attempting CPR on her newest orchid or struggling over the cryptic crossword. Imogen can’t wait to meet the new freshers so whether you find her grabbing a coffee in Pret or on Sports Night at Guys Bar, feel free to ask any burning questions about Medicine or life at King’s! Often found in Zara, she loves to accessorise: this year she will be sporting many hats - Halfway Ball Chair, membership secretary of ‘Penguins Against Cancer’ charity and GKTNC 2s captain. She loves any reason to scrub up nicely and dance until the early hours of the morning so she is excited to be organising the HWB this year!

Final Year Committee Chair
Reeza Khan
Despite her deep love for lying in bed and watching Gossip Girl on repeat, Reeza has dug her way out of her cocoon to be this year’s final year chair. While she will miss snuggling with her dog, she is prepared to use her obsessive organising tendencies for the greater good - throwing the best grad ball King’s has ever seen. She has loved her 6 years at here and can’t imagine what life will be like after she leaves. So instead of facing the uncertainty of her future, she’d rather spend her time making sure that the 5th years have a final year they will never forget.
