GKTeach: Infectious Diseases - Trypanosomiasis

This session will be about the history, diagnosis and treatment of Human African Trypanosomiasis. This is a Neglected Tropical Disease which, as the name suggests is a disease often neglected by international organisations, despite the fact that elimination of these NTDs is one of Sustainable Development Goals created by the UN. Although there is a low prevalence of this disease today, we are still unable to completely eliminate it due to lack of investments, will and focus. Through this session, medical students will be able to consider this disease which they may not have heard of before as well as think about what might be done in the future to eliminate this disease.
